Post-Apocalyptic Sundown
The story of this image is one of a happy accident. I had done a series of bracketed shots from the sunset at this pond out at Pawnee National Grassland with the intention of doing an HDR. I did and and as is my custom I then layered the HDR image over the unaltered image to blend a more natural looking image.
Then when I had only the grassland portion in a layer and used the difference blend mode I was thrilled with the effect it created. It's like the it turned the grassland into the desolate surface of an uninhabited planet. A post-apocalyptic sunset if you will. :-)
