Buteo and His Coat of Many Colors
Fly first class and View Large on Black
A Red-tailed Hawk (Buteo jamaicensis) flies in front of some rather impressive iridescent clouds (they really do look like this!).
Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day All!
It seems right around the same time windy weather hit the Front Range of Colorado we started to see more iridescent clouds. I don't know if there's a true correlation, but it would seem that wind could help maintain thin clouds with similar size droplets needed for diffraction to make them shine with color such as we see here. Maybe I should ask Iris ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iris_(mythology) ) , heh.
