Cattle Egret Forward Scout
Cattle Egret ( http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Cattle_Egret/id ) are vastly expanding from their original range in Africa and now are found across most parts of North and South America (as well as Australia and Europe). They get their name from a habit of following large animals in order to take advantage of the insets stirred up. This one is breeding with other heron species (Snowy Egret, Night Heron and GBHs) at Glenmere Pond in Greeley, CO. Having grown up in this area I can say they do seem to becoming much more common in our area.
