A Purge on the Purg
These guys are huge (at least 2 in/5 cm) and were quite numerous around the bunkhouse we stayed at on our trip down to SE Colorado ranches along the Purgatoire River.
This is the largest grasshopper species in Colorado, the Plains Lubber, and they sure are colorful but are unable to fly. It seemed they all were at the end of their life cycle dying in droves. And when one died another two would eat it. I may post a shot of that behavior later on, hah.
