Star Streak Silhouettes
The glow in the sky is the Milky Way. This is from the evening of my sister's 40th birthday party this past weekend. She is lucky to live in an area with low light pollution where one can still easily see the Milky Way. When I noticed the lack of moon I knew I had to try a star trails image for fun.
For those asking the exposure time was just over 16 minutes. One thing to keep in mind with long exposure times is that even a minute doesn't make all that big of difference. Keep in mind the time must keep doubling for each stop. If you want to try this on your DSLR be sure to engage your long-time noise reduction or learn how to do dark frame subtraction yourself. There's no way I could do this digitally without.
