Passiontide at the Immaculate Conception Jesuit Church of New Orleans
Though not nearly as visited as the St. Louis Cathedral, the Immaculate Conception is still nonetheless an architectural highlight of my recent trip to New Orleans. This fairly new building (completed in 1930) in the Gothic Revival style is complemented by some lovely Venetian design elements. I was lucky to visit at Passiontide when the statues and icons were draped with purple cloth following a Lent tradition of veiling dating back centuries. In back are two baskets of palm leaves.
Happy Easter Weekend All!
Image Notes: This is a single exposure that I used PhotoNinja to convert from RAW and then finished in Photoshop where I used luminosity masking to balance the light.
