Flora: Exploring the botanical world
Fridays Flower: Phaeomeria magnifica
This Friday flora, Torch Ginger (Phaeomeria magnifica), was enjoyed at the Boettcher Memorial Conservatory at the Denver Botanic Gardens. We are incredibly lucky to have one of the very best botanic gardens in the entire country. If you are visiting Colorado I hope you get a chance to enjoy this amazing garden.
Happy Friday All!
Notes: Torch Ginger is native to Hawaii and is very attractive to bees and butterflies. The blossom featured here I think was near the end of its life, as it was a bit darker and more ragged than some of the other blooms. Best of all it was illuminated by a golden shaft of sunlight, creating the nice separation seen here.
