North Cascades National Park Starry Night

From the Diablo Lake overlook at N. Cascades National Park, here is a view of the starry sky above Diablo Dam (once the world's tallest!).

No meteors, but this shot does give me a good opportunity to play the part of Jack Horkheimer and urge you all to keep looking up! The 2009 Perseids Meteor Shower is currently underway (July 23 - August 22) and will be peaking Aug 12-13. Wishing you all cloud free dark night skies to enjoy the show!

Shot Notes: Single RAW file double-processed (once for foreground and once for sky) and then blended together. The nifty star diffraction spikes were added in post.
