Exploring the Night: Astrophotography and Nocturnal Visions
Listening to Stars Under Moonlight on the Plains of San Agustin
The night after the full moon I was thinking the Very Large Array ( http://www.vla.nrao.edu/ ) might make an ideal subject to test long exposures on the D300. This image is a composite of three different exposures looking down the train tracks that are used to position the 27 independent radio antennae into position.
I have to say that the D300 is impressing me more all the time. Has anyone else noticed how chromatic aberrations seem to be incredibly limited on lenses that show them on other digital SLRs? Also, for long exposure night work, I think folks are going to love how clean the shadow areas and blacks are coming out. Previously the darks were always troublesome for me on my D70, particularly for night shots so this will be a huge improvement for me.
